CBS12

Emmy-award winning Juan Carlos Fanjul joined CBS 12 as the 7pm Anchor/Reporter in January of 2008 from WGN-TV in Chicago. Although he spent nearly six years in the Windy City, South Florida is home for him. His entire family resides in Palm Beach County and Fanjul worked here earlier in his career as a reporter.

In Chicago, Juan Carlos was the primary substitute anchor and go-to reporter at WGN. Among his most memorable stories covering Hurricanes Rita and Katrina in New Orleans, the White Sox World Series win in Houston, and tracking down a corrupt Chicago politician in Mexico who was wanted by the FBI. Fanjul won an Emmy and multiple Associated Press Awards for his work. Prior to Chicago, he worked as a reporter at WSVN-TV in Miami. He began his career at WHBF-TV in Rock Island, IL.

In 2008, Juan Carlos was nominated for two Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards for his work at WGN during 2007-2008. The first was for a special news report on teens and texting called "Intexticated," and the second nomination was for best public affairs show. He hosted WGN's weekly latino issues program called "Adelante Chicago".

Juan Carlos is Cuban-American and speaks Spanish fluently. He is a graduate of Boston College. Since returning to South Florida he has become actively involved in the community volunteering his time to New Hope Charities, CARP (Comprehensive Alcoholism Rehabilitation Programs), and his high school Alma mater: The Benjamin School.
