Liz Quirantes
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Liz Quirantes anchors the 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. weekday newscasts on WPEC CBS 12. She joined CBS 12 in 1991 and since then, has received several awards including an Associated Press Best Series, Award for her undercover work in a report titled 'Inside Castro's Cuba." She was also recently named Best Female Local TV News Anchor by Palm Beach Post readers and received the 2003 Dandy Award for community service by the Advertising Federation of Palm Beach County. While working for Dynamic Headline News, a cable news service in Miami, Liz received the 1989 ACE Award for her production of Noticiero Miavision, and was nominated for ACE Awards in 1990 and 1991. Liz donates her time to many local, community charities and organizations. She is currently a board member of the H.O.P.E. Project, which provides free and low-cost mammograms from a mobile, mammography van. Liz also volunteers every week in her children's classrooms and teaches Sunday school at Jupiter First Congregational Church. Other organizations and events in which Liz is involved include the Dwyer Awards for Excellence in Education, The Children's Miracle Network and the MDA Jerry Lewis Telethon. Liz received praise from the Hispanic Community for providing Spanish language translations during the 2004 Hurricanes. A graduate of the University of Miami, she holds a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Master's Degree in Telecommunication. Liz is married and resides in the Palm Beach County area with her husband, son and daughter.
