Turning Trash into Electricity
Comments 0 | Recommend 0St. lucie county is a step closer to turning your trash into electricity.
Crews are building a plant called "Geo Plasma Arc Technology". It sounds like a science fiction novel, but it's actually quite real.
What happens is your trash will be zapped with a plasma lightning arc, making it into little rocks that can be used to build roads. The lightning arc creates a massive strike that will burn and generate power-- it's a win-win plan for garbage disposal.
Commissioners say the new plant will also cut harmful emissions from the landfill in half.
Organizers hope to have the new plant up and running by fall of 2008.
